The post-mortem report of the trainee physician who was raped and murdered in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has revealed that she was subjected to “genital torture.”
The four-page report stated that her private parts showed a deep wound caused by “perverted sexuality” and “genital torture,” reported India Today.
The rape and murder took place between 3 am and 5 am on August 9, say police officials.
Per the report, she was throttled before being smothered to death. Her thyroid cartilage was found to be broken because of the strangulation. Injuries were found on her belly, lips, fingers, and left leg.
“The mouth and throat were constantly pressed to prevent screaming. The throat was strangled to suffocate. The thyroid cartilage broke due to strangling,” the postmortem report said.
The accused had struck her with such force that her glasses shattered, causing shards to pierce her eyes, the post-mortem report found.
The woman was found dead inside the seminar hall of the hospital. According to PTI, her colleagues said she had gone to the seminar hall to rest after having her meal. She was on night duty at the hospital. The police have arrested a civic volunteer named Sanjoy Roy for the crime.
Investigation revealed that the arrested man was also a member of a welfare unit of the Kolkata Police.
Junior doctors at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital questioned why West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee set a seven-day deadline for solving the rape-murder of a postgraduate trainee, asserting they would continue their strike until their demands are met. Mamata Banerjee earlier on Monday asserted that her government would transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation if the police failed to solve it by next Sunday. ( With Agencies Inputs )
