LONDON:The University of East London conferred a Doctorate (Honoris Causa) in Business Administration upon Dr. Qaidjoher Ezzuddin.
Dr. Ezzuddin (73) is the eldest son of the Dawoodi Bohra community’s spiritual and temporal head, His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin. He is the Chairman of the state-of-the–art Saifee Hospital in Mumbai and also the Chairman of Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT) that has taken up the multi-million redevelopment initiative to uplift the standard of the densely populated and economically depressed Bhendi Bazaar neighbourhood in south Mumbai that would enhance the quality of life of some 20,000 residents living in the area.
Senior Advisor to the Vice Chancellor at the University, Professor Lord Kamlesh Patel, previously a minister in the Labour government read out the Citation. He mentioned that Dr. Ezzuddin has been awarded the Doctorate in recognition of his distinctive areas of leadership, “business and entrepreneurship, serving the public and education.”

Under Dr. Ezzuddin’s guidance and leadership, he has brought recognition to a hitherto minority community, devoting the last 50 years to building a strong spiritual, peaceful, socially and economically sound value base for his community around the world.
He attributes his success in life to the guidance and teachings of his father His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin. “My father has taught me all I know and am forever grateful to him” said Dr. Qaidjoher Ezzuddin. He is the rector of Al-Jamea-tus-Saifiyah, Fatimi Arabic Academy, a renowned institute that has branches in Surat, Mumbai, Karachi, Nairobi and London.
