PARTIAL ATTITUDE OF MAULANA AZAD EDUCATION FOUNDATION

MBMC ALIGARH CALLED FOR TRANSPARENCY

 

ALIGARH: There is no doubt that the working of Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF) under the present Union Minister for Minority Affairs Dr. K. Rahman Khan has much improved and the students of minority communities have been benefited by the scholarship scheme but the grant-in-aid for Maulana Azad Memorial Lecture to highlight the First Education Minister of India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is not being sanctioned impartially and only the Congress Party is benefiting from it as the Foundation easily provides grants to its District Congress Committees completely ignoring the field NGOs said Jasim Mohammad while chairing a review meeting of the Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC), Aligarh at Media Centre Aligarh. He said that MBMC has already pointed out the fact in a letter to the minister concerned who must ensure transparency. He said Secretary of MAEF has not released funds till date while the Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is failing on 11 November. How the Birth Anniversary of Maulana Azad will be observed?

Member, Executive Council of Aligarh Muslim University Dr. Mohammad Shahid said that large numbers of NGOs are working in the field to make aware people about philosophy of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and their work is hampering due to lack of funds but Maulana Azad Education Foundation is not serious about doing Justice with Maulana Azad himself. He further added that India is an emerging nation and the secular polity of Maulana Azad is very relevant and so these field NGOs should get support.

Prof. Humayun Murad pointed out that the core philosophy of Maulana Azad should reach an every doorstep and only government cannot do this task. Hence the need of the hour is that local NGOs must get backing of Foundation. Political Analyst N. Jamal Ansari said that if the Foundation is not working with transparency and impartially then UPA chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi Should be approached. He said that the funds of Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF) are public funds and should not be left on whims of some people. They must be utilised properly.

In the end of the meeting MBMC decided to send a delegation soon to meet Smt. Sonia Gandhi, UPA Chairperson for bringing the facts in her knowledge.

Apart of large number of teachers and scholars notably Dr. Fatima Zehra, Dr. G. F. Sabri, Dr. Daulat Ram, Deeba Abrar, Syed Ali Sardar Jafri, Mehmood Ansari, Wasim Ali Khan were also present in the meeting.
