Jordan, Bosnia explore economic, investment tiesAmman, (IINA) : Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mirko Sarovic on Sunday agreed to work jointly to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

At a meeting here, both ministers were unanimous that a 2006 trade cooperation agreement, which came into effect in 2011, should be upgraded and activated to boost two-way trade, which remained modest despite the available opportunities in both countries, Petra News reported.

The trade volume between Jordan and Bosnia did not exceed $1.3 million annually and had seen a sharp decline last year. “We look forward to the visit of the Bosnian economic delegation and holding the joint business council, which kicks off tomorrow to discuss ways and means to bolster economic cooperation,” said Qudah.

He also pointed to the importance of simplifying the rules of origin, a deal that Jordan had recently signed with the European Union (EU) to facilitate the entry of Jordanian exports to European markets within eased rules of origin that gave a further boost to the investment environment. The Bosnian minister said his country was keen to promote economic ties with Jordan and stimulate the business community in both countries to take advantage of the available opportunities in the other country.

Sarovic also said he was impressed with the reforms carried out by Jordan in a turbulent region, as well as the Kingdom’s pursuit of efforts to build partnerships with other nations.

The minister also reviewed economic development in Bosnia and the country’s aspirations to upgrade economic ties with Jordan.
