Kampala (IINA) – Uganda has viable and abundant opportunities for bilateral trade, said Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry Dr Koh Poh Koon, who is on a visit to the East African nation, Uganda’s New Vision reported.
Stating that he was impressed by the many trade opportunities which Uganda had to offer, he added that he looked forward to how his country could share its bilateral trade experience.
Dr Koh said Singapore was committed to improving bilateral trade relations to better the standard of living of the two countries. He discussed with Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Amelia Kyambadde here on Wednesday the signing by the two countries an avoidance of double taxation agreement and exemption of tax on certain types of income.
He said that the purpose of his visit to Uganda was to discuss the different trade opportunities available.
In an interview with New Vision, Dr Koh noted that Singapore was contemplating investing in agriculture in Uganda because the country was endowed with good potential resources. He added that East Africa has achieved impressive growth over the past decade and Uganda is at the center of the region.
Koh is visiting Uganda and Tanzania from April 25 to 29 to explore new business opportunities in the East Africa region.
