Twitter adds four Indian languages

by | May 25, 2021

New Delhi:(IANS) Twitter on Friday said that it has added four more Indian languages – Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil – taking the count of supported languages to six.

Hindi and Bengali have been available for a year now, the social media company said in a blog post.

According to Twitter, these four languages were partially translated by a community of Twitter users via the translation centre. “We couldn’t have done it without their help. By supporting Twitter in these languages, we are making our platform for live, public conversations more accessible to Indians all over the country,” it said.

Users can avail the languages by changing it from the settings menu. “For the Android app, users simply need to change the language settings on their mobile devices to any of the four languages,” it said.

Twitter India currently has a user base of 22.2 million.
