Jeddah (IINA) : The Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group has announced three institutions as winners of this year’s IDB Prizes for Science and Technology.
Three scientific institutions from Indonesia, Malaysia and Sudan have been declared the winners of IDB Prizes for Science and Technology for 2017.
President of IDB Group Dr. Bandar bin Hajjar announced the winning entries screened by an independent selection committee. This is the 15th year in a row the IDB has awarded its prizes for science and technology.
Universitas Indonesia won the prize for overall outstanding contribution to social and economic development; Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FKT), Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia won the prize for most outstanding contribution in a given scientific field; and Faculty of Medicine, University of Gezira, Sudan was awarded the prize for most notable scientific institution from a Least Developed Member Country (LDMC).
“I would like to congratulate the winners of this year’s competition,” Dr. Hajjar said, adding: “IDB is proud of their inspiring feats in the field of scientific and technological research. I hope other universities and scientific centers in member countries benefit from these admirable examples.”
