Airtel launches GST Advantage for small businesses

AirtelNew Delhi : To enable small businesses and start-ups to file their Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns smoothly, Airtel Business on Thursday launched Airtel GST Advantage, a company statement said here.

Airtel Business, is the B2B arm of telecommunications service provider Bharti Airtel.

Launched in partnership with ClearTax, Airtel GST Advantage is being offered free to all existing Airtel Business customers.

“The new GST regime is a landmark reform for the Indian economy and with Airtel GST Advantage, we would like to enable small businesses with free filing of returns, and free and secure data access. Airtel is also the data hosting and connectivity partner for the Goods and Services Network (GSTN),” said Ashok Ganapathy, Director & CEO – Airtel Business.

Airtel, Symantec ink partnership on cyber security for businesses

AirtelNew Delhi : To serve the growing cyber security needs of businesses in India, Bharti Airtel and cyber security provider Symantec have inked a strategic alliance to protect customers from increasing online threats.

Under the terms of the agreement, Airtel will be the exclusive cyber security services partner for Symantec in India, and will distribute Symantec’s enterprise security software, said Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel here on Monday.

“Building a secure business is important. Cyber security is becoming a mission critical thing. The need to protect from potential cyber threats is becoming the new normal,” Vittal said while addressing a media roundtable.

“The partnership will give customers stronger protection and prevention, greater visibility and better control of critical assets, users and data. Airtel Business serves over 2,000 large enterprise accounts, plus more than 250,000 corporate and tech startups with its integrated telecom solutions,” Vittal added.

He said the opportunity for cyber security is very large as the nature of threats is becoming sophisticated.

“The threat environment is more dangerous and complex than ever. The partnership between Airtel and Symantec presents massive value to businesses in India,” said Symantec’s CEO Greg Clark.

“Airtel is one of the most forward-thinking telcos and Symantec’s Integrated Cyber Defence Platform focuses on empowering businesses to protect their on-premise as well as fast growing cloud environment through every stage of an attack lifecycle by combining the broadest and deepest set of threat intelligence in the industry,” he added.

Symantec employs around 4,000 people in India.

Having proper cyber security has become all the more important after recent ransomware attacks like WannaCry and Petya.

Airtel to sell 950 telecom towers in Congo to Helios

airtelafNew Delhi,  (IANS) Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) has signed a deal with Helios Towers Africa (HTA) for divestment of around 950 telecom towers in Congo, a company statement said here on Thursday.

The divestment also includes towers currently under construction in the central African country.

“The agreement will allow Airtel to focus on its core business and customers, while enabling it to deleverage through debt reduction. The deal will significantly reduce Airtel’s ongoing capital expenditure on passive infrastructure and also mitigate the proliferation of towers through enhanced sharing,” the statement said.

This deal will expand HTA’s tower coverage in Africa to over 6,500 owned towers.

The agreement is subject to statutory and regulatory approvals in the respective countries.

air telNew Delhi : (IANS) Bharti Airtel has increased maternity leave for its women employees from 12 weeks to 22 weeks, a company statement said here on Wednesday.

“With this new policy, our aim is to offer adequate work-life balance to women employees and ensure that they continue to contribute to the Airtel growth story,” Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel, said.

“In case of adoption, if the child’s age is less than two years, women employees can avail 12 weeks of leave and if age is above two years then six weeks. Male employees can avail one week of leave in both the cases,” the statement added.
