Ramallah : Palestinian Health Minister Dr. Jawad Awwad and Representative of Japan to the State of Palestine Takeshi Okubo discussed the implementation of a solar energy project to provide electricity for the public hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
This came during the health minister’s meeting with the Japanese ambassador, held in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Thursday in the presence of the Chairman of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Shinichi Kitaoka and the accompanying delegation.
Awwad stressed that the goal of the solar panels project is to provide sufficient electrical power to secure the necessary medical services for citizens in the Gaza Strip, through the installation of solar cells to generate electricity in public hospitals.
The minister thanked the government and the people of Japan for their support and assistance to the Palestinian government, the health sector and public hospitals.
For his part, the Japanese ambassador underlined the continued coordination and work to provide support and assistance to the Palestinian health sector, as well as working together with the Palestinian authorities to promote joint cooperation.
