New Delhi, August 19, 2024: The SAHIT National Conference and Awards 2024, organised by CyberPeace Foundation and Miranda House in collaboration with the Indian National Sciences Academy held at the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, celebrated some of India’s most influential leaders driving change. Among the distinguished Awardees was Professor (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard. He is known for his outstanding contribution for promoting gender inclusivity within the university. Prof. Alam has been instrumental in fostering an inclusive environment at Jamia Hamdard, where over 50% of decision-making roles are now held by women. His leadership is not only transforming the university but also setting a benchmark for educational institutions across the country. The award highlights empowering women as a crucial step towards India’s goal of becoming a developed nation- Viksit Bharat.
The conference was graced by several prominent figures, including Smt. Meeta Rajivlochan, Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. India, Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, President of the Indian National Science Academy, and Prof. Bijayalaxmi Nanda, Principal of Miranda House among others.
One of the standout moments was the recognition of Niyati Tewari, a 17-year-old who was honoured with the Young Innovator of the Year Award. Niyati has developed an AI-based solution to help students learn about artificial intelligence. She’s also the founder of “Inaraa”, a project that mixes traditional tribal art with modern fashion, helping to bring India’s rich cultural heritage to a wider audience while supporting tribal artisans.
