Over 1,000 IIT Kharagpur students bag jobs in 13 days

Kolkata, (IANS) : A record number of over 1,000 IIT-Kharagpur students have bagged lucrative jobs in just 13 days of the first phase of placement season this year, the institute said in a statement.

“A record number of 1,043 IIT Kharagpur students have bagged lucrative jobs in just thirteen days of the first phase of placement season. 175 companies have visited the campus till date,” it said.

The statement said the record is a testament to the fact that IIT-Kgp students are currently regarded as the most employable across the country as per the recently released QS Graduate Employability Ranking.

There is an increase in the number of PSUs visiting the campus this year. Already seven PSUs have recruited 44 students during the placement process with Coal India hiring the highest number of students. Till date IIT Kharagpur has received 24 international offers from companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Sprinklr, Delta Electronics etc.

Chairman of Career Development Centre Debasis Deb said core engineering sector has seen an increase in the number of offers this year.
