On Christmas eve, 25 December, multiple statues including a statue of Jesus Christ were vandalised by two unidentified men at Haryana’s Holy Redeemer Church. The attack on the Church reportedly took place on Saturday night. Visuals of the attack emerged on internet, show a statue of Jesus Christ broken into pieces, outside the church.

According to NDTV, the CCTV footage showed two unidentified men entering the Church premises post mid night and vandalising the statues.

Naresh, the Station House Officer at Sadar Police Station in Ambala told the news channel that the church administration would be filing a complaint regarding the incident following which they would take appropriate action.

“We’re examining CCTV footage to identify the culprits. The miscreants will be identified and rounded up soon. A thorough investigation will be conducted,” speaking to ANI, Ambala ASP Pooja Dabla said.

There has been rising intolerance and attacks against Christians across the country, by right-wing Hindu groups.
