The Hague (Netherlands), (IANS) : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday appealed to Dutch investors along with Italian and German industrialists to invest in the state.

“Come to Bengal and ride the growth because the state has the sustainable development in every angle. The state has improved a lot after the 34 year of the Left (Front) leadership. We have our land bank and introduced e-governance. There is transparency and credentiality,” she said.

Banerjee, who is accompanied with a high powered official and business delegation, is in the Netherlands to participate in the United Nations Public Service Forum as a speaker.

The state government organised a business interaction on Wednesday in association with VNO-NCW, the largest employers’ organisation in the Netherlands, supported by Indian industry chamber Ficci and consultancy firm KPMG.

Banerjee said Hans de Boer, President, VNO-NCW expressed interest to bring in a delegation of Dutch companies to Bengal Global Business Summit 2018.

Noted Industrialists from Bengal spoke on their experiences of doing business in Bengal, she tweeted.

Describing the state as the gateway of India’s northeastern region and Southeast Asia, she, once again, requested the investors to come in the eastern state of India.

Showcasing the state as the investments’ destination, Banerjee said the growth of state’s gross domestic product, agricultural and industrial growth is higher than that of India’s average.

She also mentioned the state has the strength in steel, MSME, food processing, diary, leather, manufacturing sector and also said the state has the second largest financial hub in India.

Asking “Dutch friends” to invest at the hub, she described the state as the capital of talent and asked them to come there.

The Bengal government had already a memorandum of association with the Royal Netherlands Football Association to spot, groom and train young football talent in the state.
