Aligarh :The Aligarh Movement monthly magazine will bestow upon its highest award , ‘ Aligarh Movement Award – 2015 ‘ on Chancellor of the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya and Coordinator of National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI ) New Delhi , Mahbubul Hoque at India International Centre, New Delhi on May 09 .
In this connection, Dr. Jasim Mohammad , Chief Editor Aligarh Movement monthly magazine told that the publication of the Aligarh Movement monthly magazine was started to spread the Aligarh Movement launched by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan founder of the Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh. He added that the magazine is publishing articles on economic , social and political problems and issues concerning Muslims in its every issue. The award is presented to those personalities who may have contributed in any field in a distinguished way.
Dr. Jasim Mohammad said that Mahbubul Hoque is an old boy of AMU and presently he is Chancellor of the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya. He had founded ERD Foundation at Gawahati ( Assam ) and established many educational institutions like Central IT College , Regional College of Higher Education , Central Public School , Regional Institute of science & Technology and ERD F Junior College in far flung eastern state of Assam and Meghalaya.
Dr. Jasiom Mohamamd said that Mahbubul Hoque has also made contributions in the social reforms sector and his ERD Foundation is lending helping hands for free medical treatment to deprived and poor sections of society and is giving scholarships to needy students. Apart of that he is engaged in looking after old and helpless women particularly widows through Khaorunnisa Memorial Women’s Endownment.
Dr. Jasim said there is no other person more suitable than Mahbubul Hoque for Aligarh Movement Award -2015 because taking inspiration from Sir Syed , he has launched Aligarh Movement in distant area of Assam and Meghalaya by establishing educational institutions.
Dr. Jasim Mohammad told that the decision of awarding Aligarh Movement award -2015 to Mahbubul Hoque has been taken by a Jury constituted under Chief Adviser of the Aligarh Movement magazine and noted film director Mahesh Bhatt .He added that the award will be presented to Mahbubul Hoque by Union HRD minister Smriti Irani in a glittering function at the India International Centre New Delhi on 09 May .
It may be recalled that Mahbub-ul-Haq has earlier received awards and honours like Maeeshat Eduprenure Award 2014, Muslim Mirror Award, Minority welfare society and CABSSF Award in Assam also.
