Guwahati: Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) has been selected for “50 Most Influential Educational Entrepreneurs” citation by the World Education Congress. The 2015 citation will be awarded at the World Education Congress on 23rd July 2015 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The World Education Congress recognises that the Education Entrepreneurs are the future of the world and they are those people who will build the world with passion for education. This has been communicated by Dr. R. L. Bhatia, Founder, World CSR Day & World Sustainability Congress.
After obtaining his first class MCA degree from AMU, Mr Hoque resisted the temptation of career in multinational companies and returned to Assam with a vision and dream to convulse the North East with educational institutions in the field of technical and professional education. He landed in Guwahati in 2001 with an empty pocket but a big dream and started his first venture in a rented building with one computer and 4 students and crossed all barriers and odds to emerge as leading light in the educational arena in the North Eastern India over a decade. Now under the banner of ERD Foundation he has one University, two CBSE Schools, one engineering college, two professional colleges, one B.Ed College, one Women’s College, one Civil Service Coaching Centre and one upcoming Law College with 5500 +students.
The selection has been made by a jury of eminent and senior leaders, researchers and academicians based on the criteria of strategic perspective, support infrastructure, future orientation, track record, integrity and ethics, ability for sustainable education and evaluation approach.
Earlier Mr. Mahbubul Hoque was decorated with many prestigious awards by various organisations and institutions.
