Kuwait, (IINA) : Jordan’s King Abdullah II will head to Kuwait on Tuesday to meet with Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
“The visit aims to discuss bilateral ties and recent developments in the Middle East,” Jordan’s royal court announced in a statement ON Monday.
Kuwait is currently at the center of intense diplomatic activity.
Earlier Monday, Sheikh Sabah met with Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, and an accompanying delegation.
Last Wednesday, the Kuwaiti emir received Qatari counterpart Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in Kuwait City.
The Jordanian king’s Tuesday visit to Kuwait will come one day after Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and Bahrain cut diplomatic relations with Qatar.
The abrupt escalation came two weeks after the website of Qatar’s official news agency was allegedly hacked by an unknown group that reportedly published statements falsely attributed to Sheikh Tamim.
The incident ignited a diplomatic row between Qatar and fellow Gulf States of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
