Jamia Hamdard organised NCISM prescribed 15 days transitional curriculum and white coat ceremony in School of Unani Medical Education and Research.

New Delhi, March 26: School of Unani Medical Education and Research (SUMER), Jamia Hamdard held a Valedictory cum Inaugural program for the newly admitted students of Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Research on 21st March, 2023. An Induction Program, as described by NCISM, was also organised for assisted and smooth transition of students into the world of Unani. The program lasted for fifteen days from 3rd March, 2023 to 24th March, 2023. It consisted of 90 hours of lectures on various relevant topics such as fields in Unani, basic computer skills, communication skills, importance of goal setting etc.

The event started with a formal welcome of students by Dr. Zehra Zaidi, HoD (Department of ENT). She briefed the students on the history of Jamia Hamdard and its vision.

Then, Dr. Suhail Fatima, Dean (SUMER) addressed the students and motivated them to reach great heights and practise their profession with honesty and honour. The Hippocratic Oath was taken by students under her guidance.

Dr. Badrujdujha Khan, Principal of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, AMU, Aligarh gave a hearty speech on the importance of respecting elders and recalled his coincidental meeting with Hakim Abdul Hameed where he was struck by his humility and simplicity.

The speech was followed by Prof. Mohammad Zubair, Principal of Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College, Karol Bagh, New Delhi where he enlisted the future prospects and scope of Unani Medicine in various fields.

The Chief Guest of the evening, Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General of Central Council of Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) gave a brief on the Govt. schemes and opportunities that are coming up under the Ministry of AYUSH. He also shed light on the growing number of colleges in Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha systems of medicine.

Then, the host, Dr. Farha Ahmed, Assistant Professor (Dept. of Pharmacology) asked the students to give feedback on the TC program. The response was overwhelmingly positive and the students were greatly benefitted by it.

The honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Afshar Alam gave a motivational speech and emphasised the importance of alternative systems of medicine.

To mark the occasion, all the dignitaries were felicitated. Lastly, a note of thanks by Dr. Ayesha Parveen, HoD (Dept. of Preventive and Social Medicine), concluded the event.
