After the initial first petals of Arab spring the thorns of the West started appearing. Islamic governments again in Arab lands? No way.
After the fall of Ottoman Caliphate, the Muslim world made efforts to at least keep their divided nations states well informed of their glorious past, and not allow the flame of Islam to get extinguished by the Mouths of Kufr.
The West was asking questions: Islam and Liberal Democracy ?
Even if elected, they would turn to “” One man one vote, one time “”they would say.
The last two decades has seen the following movements, with their success or failure.
1.The oldest movement of Islamic Brotherhood started by Hasan Al Banna and Syed Qutb in Egypt with their chapters in some Arab countries.
Unfortunately Morsi of Brotherhood failed because of initial false steps and machinations of the enemies.
- I.S.—Daáish ,and Taliban have more violent approaches and calls all above movements as Apostates .
- Islamists in Palestine, Yemen Syria , and S.E.Asia, and the countries of “”Khorasan’’ . Majority populations of the last two mentioned countries are waiting for a successful model of Islamic State to follow.’’ Is there in today’s world any successful model of Islamic modern government “? They ask.
- EnNahada in Tunisia, the first country of Arab spring doing pretty well with liberal democracy.
- A.K. Party of Erdogan in Turkey which has come out with success.
Erdogan has very intelligently taken the course of AK party after winning democratic elections, promising freedom and Free markets and undoing the harm done to Islam by his predecessors.
This is called Islamism Lite by the West, or Muslim Democrats, copying the word Christian Democrats of the West.
First and foremost, we have to ask ourselves the question ‘’Is Islam compatible with modern day Democracy ? Syed Qutb called it a foreign import and un-Islamic. But we cannot leave at that.
Our international Islamic scholars, I am sure must have worked out a copy of the framework to be adapted if they get power. ‘’Quran is our constitution”” as the Basis and with small adjustments suitable to modern times. This is the advice of most Islamic scholars.
But how to process further to get the power is the million dollar question.
Islamic state happening in stages, each requiring different tactics, and adapting to their country’s specific political environments is the way to go.
We have before us examples of Tunisia, Turkey and Egypt, where we have to learn the lessons, and beware of the mistakes they have made.
I have just written the present day state of Islamic movements, and it is the work of sincere thinkers’ scholars, and journalists of Islam—not influenced by West—to come out with a blueprint.
But the execution of it is known to only those who are in the field.
