ISESCO hails selection of Sharjah as World Book Capital 2019Rabat, (IINA) : Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri hailed the decision of the Advisory Committee of the World Book Capital of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to select Sharjah as World Book Capital for c2019.

Altwaijri stated that this decision is a token of recognition of Sharjah’s remarkable cultural and intellectual status and a well-deserved appreciation of the major advances achieved in the cultural, intellectual, and educational fields, under the wise leadership of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, making this city a source of pride for the United Arab Emirates.

The director general also expressed his appreciation for setting 23 April 2019 as the launch date of the celebrations, which coincides with the World Book and Copyright Day, under the slogan of “Read, you are in Sharjah.”

Altwaijri wished this celebration all success, reaffirming ISESCO’s intention to participate with educational, cultural and scientific activities and programs.
