Shimla, (IANS) : The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Wednesday directed the state Chief Secretary to file a status report on encroachments on Wakf Board properties in the state.
Hearing two petitions brought to the notice of the court that the Wakf Tribunal is not functioning in the state as the government has not appointed its members so far, a division bench of Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma issued the directive.
They directed the Chief Secretary to take necessary steps in this regard and file a report by October 26.
One of the petitioners has alleged that there are encroachments on a number of properties belonging to the Wakf Board across the state.—IANS
