Aligarh: Saiyed Hamid Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University and former Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University is not a name of an individual but he was himself a mission in the foot prints of Sir Syed. His death has caused a great loss to education and humanism in the country said Prof. Razaullah Khan While chairing a condolence in memory of Saiyed Hamid and BS Abdul Rehman at Media Centre Aligarh. Like Syed Hamid, the untimely death of B.S. Abdur Rehman has also shocked Indian Muslims.

Razaullah said that Saiyed Hamid had not only took up reforms in academic and administrative field in AMU during his tenure as Vice Chancellor but also established discipline in campus. He pointed out that most important contributions of Saiyed Hamid is establishment of a coaching in Delhi for Civil Services examinations which resulted in the benefit to the marginalized section of Society. Paying rich tributes to both Saiyed Hamid and B.S. Abdur Rehman, he said that B.S. Abdur Rehman also contributed much for education for which he founded Seethakathi Trust in 1967. He was a symbol of Muslim Educational Empowerment in India.

OSD Jamia Urdu Aligarh Farhat Ali Khan said that Syed Hamid had a multifaceted personality. He had begun publishing an English monthly magazine Nation & The world through which he took up social reforms on global level. He said that BS Abdur Rehman also took up health services and founded Crescent hospital at Madurai apart of Yousuf Zulaikha hospital at Kilakarai.

Member of India Islamic Cultural Centre Mrs. Nikhat Parveen said that BS Abdur Rehman had removed distance between north and south India through his mission.

Social Activist Mrs. Saba Khan said that Saiyed Hamid was a secular person and due to his forsigntness even government of India used to consult him on various issues related with Muslims. On the other hand BSA Abdur Rehman had founded Al Momin Orphanage at various places in Tamilnadu.

In the end of condolence meeting the organising organisations passed a resolution unanimously paid tributes to both Syed Hamid and BS Abdur Rehamn. Dua was held for them after keeping two minute balance.
