Cairo, (AB/IINA) : The Arab Quartet to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territory will hold a meeting at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo on Monday to discuss efforts to stop the settlements and end Israel’s occupation of Palestine.
The meeting is scheduled to be attended by foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Palestine as well as a representative of Morocco and Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Jamal Shobaki said the meeting comes in response to a request from Palestine in order to draft a UN Security Council resolution to stop the Israeli settlement and to seek a timetable for ending the occupation, as well as considering various options to confront Israel’s excesses.
Shobaki told reporters here on Sunday that the scheduling of the meeting was made during the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, held in New York last month.
