India’s first-ever Golmez Edupreneur Conference, aiming to achieve a dynamic
partnership between business leaders and education entrepreneurs of the
minority community, kicked off to a great start today at the University of
Science and Technology, Meghalaya.
At the conference’s opening session, the keynote speaker Frank F. Islam, a
successful business leader, edupreneur, investor, and philanthropist in the US,
joined via video conferencing.
In his address, Islam highlighted the need to take Muslim education to the next
level to help create an edupreneurial revolution so that the community reaps
the benefits and comes out of the endemic cycle of poverty and backwardness.
Mr. Islam cited the findings of the Sachar Committee, which had pointed to the
dismal state of socio-economic and educational conditions of Indian Muslims.
He urged Muslims to stand up for themselves to correct their lot.
He and other distinguished guests lauded the Maesshat Media’s diligent
initiative and the helping hands it received from the sponsors, organizers and
volunteers.
The day-long event, among other things, will include the interaction and
deliberation between various business leaders and educational entrepreneurs
gathered at the event from different parts of the country. They are to give a
new direction to Muslim education in India to optimize it for maximum
employability.
The conference provides an excellent opportunity for the edupreneurs to
present their ideas and seek funding. At the same time, business leaders, in
return, get the chance to apprise them with their expectations so that relevant
industry-related courses are introduced to equip students with superior skills
to help them excel in the modern-day job market.
The conference’s focus is also on chalking out a blueprint about increasing the
opportunities for higher education among Muslims.
Maeeshat Media’s Managing Director, Mr Danish Reyaz, said that the Golmez
Edupreneur Conference would lead to increased participation of business firms
and houses in the field of Muslim educational entrepreneurship. He hoped the
effect could be similar to the Golmez Conferences during the freedom
movement that ultimately paved the way for the participation of Indians in the
government.
