Kolkata: During the last two decades, women’s entrepreneurship has been recognized as a vital source of economic growth. The advancement in the literacy rate among Indian women has shifted their interest, scope and activity away from the traditional kitchen, handicrafts and small cottage-type industries to entrepreneurship. Today women have made their existence felt in society by occupying prominent positions in the economy. Due to the numerous obstacles, women entrepreneurs encounter in establishing profitable company endeavors in a male-dominated business world, they have not been able to reach their full potential. To overcome the business challenges faced by women entrepreneurs the Women Entrepreneurship Training and Skill Development Program has been organized by Maeeshat Academy, Tameer Educational and Welfare Trust, Career Designer 360 and Abacus Scholars on 18^th, 19^th, 25^th and 26^th of September 2021 with a view to empower women by developing their entrepreneurship skill and providing them financial assistance.

This program is a part of research study by Sania Sami (MPhil, IISWBM) on women entrepreneurs of Kolkata and the program has been supported by Danish Reyaz, Abu Talha Qasmi and Huzaifa Arshad. The program includes the following tracks viz., unleashing entrepreneurship by Sania Sami, identifying business opportunities and leadership skill by Danish Reyaz, legal formalities by Rajkumal Pal, communication skills by Sumita Goswami, networking and work life balance by Rukhshi K. Elias and technical assistance by Huzaifa Arshad. Financial assistance are provided to the dynamic and innovative women post three month of the training program.
