Trump doesn’t need a tax cut: Clinton

by | May 25, 2021

Hillary Clinton and Donald TrumpWashington, (IANS) : Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said that if she won the upcoming November elections, she would increase taxes on the wealthiest Americans and invest the proceeds in education and infrastructure.

Clinton on Wednesday laid out her economic plan at a campaign rally in Cleveland to create 10 million jobs during her first four year as President, EFE news reported.

She said, “It’s time for the wealthiest Americans, whoever you are, as well as corporations and Wall Street to pay your fair share in taxes.”

“”Donald Trump doesn’t need a tax cut. I don’t need a tax cut,” she added.

Clinton lambasted her Republican rival, warning that he wants to cut taxes on the wealthy, including himself, and increase the tax burden on working families.

She said Trump’s tax plan would allow millionaires to cut their taxes to half and will not benefit 99.8 per cent of Americans.

The former Secretary of State said Trump’s proposal to eliminate the inheritance tax could mean that his family would get a $4 billion tax cut, an amount that could build “hundreds of schools” or eliminate the student loan debt for more than 150,000 people.

Clinton also said her Republican rival continued to refuse to make his tax returns public, in contrast to all other Presidential nominees in the past 40 or 50 years, and something that she and her running mate, Tim Kaine, did last week.

With just 83 days to go before the November election, the former First Lady called on those attending the rally not to think that the impulsive and controversial real estate mogul will tone down his rhetoric or change his approach, despite on Wednesday making major changes to the top tier of his campaign staff.

Don’t let your friends vote for Trump, she urged, adding, “There is no new Donald Trump. This is it.”
