Lucknow : (IANS) Public-sector Hindustan Petroleum (HP) Corp. has launched an ‘all women’ petrol pump here on the eve of International Women’s Day.
Named ‘Shakti Filling Station’, the petrol pump with two fuel discharge units would be open to lady customers only, an official said on Monday.
Other than the dedicated ‘island unit’, the petrol pump also has a dedicated room for women with facilities like clean toilets, changing room, and a small rest room.
The petrol pump also has an ‘extended courtesy’ which includes free pollution check up, free petrol vouchers and free eye check up on the International Women’s Day.
District Magistrate Raj Shekhar, who inaugurated the petrol pump, said the administration had decided that each petrol pump would have to provide a dedicated toilet for women.
Punitive action would be taken if the petrol pump management did not provide the facility, he added.
