‘Haj Sathi’ Mobile App Launched by WB CM Mamta Banerjee
Kolkata : (Maeeshat News Network) Taking a giant leap towards the digitalisation of Hajj Programme, West Bengal State Hajj Committee launched a mobile application called ‘Haj Sathi’ to facilitate specifically the Hajj Pilgrims of West Bengal to get better services and enabling them to access easily all vital Information regarding the pilgrimage.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee inaugurated the app at a minority affairs programme here.
The app ‘Haj Sathi’ is developed with latest technology based on Android mobile platform for over 8900 Hajj Pilgrims of West Bengal. It is a bilingual app and can be accessed in both Bengali and English. The 5.4 MB app is available at Google PlayStore and can be downloaded onto any Android tablet or smartphone within a couple of minutes. The Hajj Pilgrims can access the app by entering either their Cover number or Passport number.
Apart from knowing the pilgrims’ details like time and date of flight, one can easily access important contacts of Hajj Committee official’s right through the app.
Besides this Hajj Pilgrims will be able to know the rituals to be followed during the month-long pilgrimage through the ‘Rituals’ and ‘Haj guide’ sections of the app. They will also receive important notifications through its notification section.
What makes this app stands apart from other apps available on PlayStore is that Hajj Pilgrims of West Bengal will be able to register complaints regarding accommodation, transportation, health problem or any accident directly through this app during the pilgrimage and check its status.
India is the second largest Smartphone market in terms of active-unique Smartphone users. As per a report , 43 per cent households of West Bengal use mobile phone whereas this figure stands at 61 per cent in Urban areas. Given these statistics it seems a futuristic move on the part of West Bengal State Hajj Committee to launch such app.
The first flight of total 8903 Haj Pilgrims of West Bengal is scheduled to begin on and from August 10.
