Riyadh (IINA) – Riyadh Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar on Sunday will inaugurate the 15th Trade Fair of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which will kick off in Riyadh under the auspices of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
The event is being organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Investment (MCI) in cooperation with the OIC, the Islamic Center for Development of Trade and the Council of Saudi Chambers at the Riyadh International Convention Center and Exhibition. “The Kingdom seeks to increase the level of trade exchange and promote two-way investments among OIC member states,” Turki Al-Toaimi, adviser to the minister of commerce and investment and its official spokesman, said here on Thursday. He expressed his deepest thanks and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for his noble role in boosting the activities of the 15th OIC Trade Fair.
Al-Toaimi added that the trade fair will witness the participation of more than 30 OIC member states and the Kingdom’s pavilion will be the largest among OIC member states. A large number of Saudi companies and establishments will be displaying and offering a variety of goods and products made in Saudi Arabia, pointing out in the same context that Saudi products are currently being exported to more than 100 countries worldwide. Al-Toaimi said that the Kingdom seeks to increase its trade and investment with Islamic countries.
The 15th OIC Trade Fair is expected to witness the signing of a number of agreements and deals among OIC member countries and companies. A number of OIC ministers and ambassadors will participate in the trade fair, as well as businessmen and industrialists in and outside of the Kingdom. Al-Toaimi confirmed that the trade fair will provide various opportunities for businessmen to cooperate in various fields in private sector activities, such as finding new markets for their products and services, establishing joint ventures, providing new methods of funding for two-way trade, identifying available opportunities for cooperation in industrial projects, and expanding trade exchange among OIC member countries.
The OIC Trade Fair, held every two years, aims to introduce the products and services of OIC member states to raise the level of trade, promote two-way investments and open new markets for the products of participating countries. On the sidelines of the 15th OIC Trade Fair, the Council of Saudi Chambers and the Islamic Chamber will organize the 9th Forum for Businesswomen in Islamic Countries on Wednesday evening at its headquarters in Riyadh.

Bhubaneswar:(IANS) Aiming to provide an enabling platform to MSMEs for exploring new markets and expose them to technological advancements, the Odisha government will hold MSME Trade Fair-2016 from January 8 to January 14 here.
Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister Jogendra Behera said that MSMEs will be given a platform to showcase their products and services along with an opportunity to imbibe advancements in technology which will be displayed at this mega event.
Credit facilitation and information dissemination for facilitating entrepreneurs in the sector would be taken through banks and different agencies, he added.
Large industries will also participate to identify potential suppliers, vendor development and downstream activities and seminars and workshops on different themes or concepts, buyer-seller meets will also be organized, said the minister.
The event is a destination for several delegations comprising of buyers, participants and service providers from various states all over India and has thus become a brand of immense value and tremendous potential.
Behera said that in this fair, it is proposed to have around 250 stalls for participation of MSMEs, technology providers, large industries, banks and promotional agencies.
Looking at the scope and potential of agro and food processing, tourism, handicrafts and handloom sectors in the state, focus has been given to highlight the products and services of these sectors, he said.
A business delegation from Vietnam will be visiting the fair.

New Delhi:(IANS) The 35th edition of India’s largest trade fair kicked off on Saturday at the sprawling Pragati Maidan grounds here with President Pranab Mukherjee calling it an opportunity for India to strengthen its bilateral trade relations with the world.
“The India International Trade Fair (IITF) is a brand name enjoying recognition from around the world. This annual celebration of trade is to develop our bilateral relations with the rest of the world,” Mukhejee said in his inaugural address here.
The government in the recent past has “intensified” the country’s bilateral relations with the world, the President said.
The first five days of the exposition have been reserved exclusively for business visitors. The public will be allowed to visit the fair from November 19 until its conclusion on November 27.
Commerce and Industry Ministry Nirmala Sitharaman said the event is of a “global stature” and would see participation by at least 28 countries. This edition of IITF will follow the theme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative.
“We have potential for becoming world’s fifth largest exporter by 2030. Focused activity is our hallmark,” Sitharaman said.
“India is emerging as a preferred investment destination,” she added.
This year, while Afghanistan is the ‘partner’ country, Bangladesh has been roped in as the ‘focus’ country. Goa and Jharkhand are acting as the partner states, while Madhya Pradesh has been made the focus state.
According to the organisers, over 7,000 firms from India and overseas are participating in the fair. The overseas participation is from countries including Egypt, Bhutan, China, Cuba, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tibet, Turkey, and the UAE.
The fair will be open daily from 9.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. The public visitors will have to pay Rs.30 on week days and Rs.50 on weekends or holidays for admission. Senior citizens and the differently abled will be given free entry. Tickets can be purchased online for business days.
The last year’s event saw a footfall of over 1.4 million, a nine percent increase over the attendence in 2013. In addition, 63 business delegations from 41 countries and a large number of people from foreign missions in New Delhi had visited the exposition.
