Jet introduces staggered penalty framework for domestic network

Jet AirwaysMumbai : Private airline Jet Airways on Wednesday introduced a staggered framework to reward its domestic guests with substantially lower penalties in exchange for advanced intimation for changes in their bookings including cancellations, changes.

The new policy would be implemented from February 7.

“As part of the new policy, charges for various changes including those for flight, date, sector, booking class, cabin and others and refund penalties for ticket cancellations at least seven days prior to the date of travel would attract lower penalties compared to those who undertake booking changes within seven days,” Jet Airways, said in a statement.

“The dynamic penalties will reward guests who plan in advance with substantial savings,” it added.

Jet Airways launches special fares offer

New Delhi, (IANS) Airline major Jet Airways on Thursday announced a special fares offer on its economy and premiere class.

According to the airline, special fares will be available under its “five-day #GetMore offer” campaign which allows flyers to avail substantial savings of up to 20 per cent on base fares.

“The promotional fare will be applicable on tickets booked between June 2 to 6, 2016 for travel between June 25 and September 30, 2016,” the airline said in a statement.

“It will be valid on all direct flights across Jet Airways’ extensive domestic network.”

jet airways brusselsNew Delhi : (IANS) The condition of Jet Airways’ crew member who was injured in Brussels terror attacks is stable, the airline said on Friday.

“We have spoken to Dr. Steven at the hospital where the crew member, Nidhi Chaphekar, is under treatment. The doctor has confirmed that she is in a stable condition and not in coma,” the airline said in a statement.

“She is resting and under sedation for her comfort,” the statement said.

The airline disclosed details about Chaphekar’s health after the media reports claimed that she has been placed in a medically induced coma.

Chaphekar, a mother of two from Mumbai, was among two crew members of the airline who were injured in Tuesday’s bomb blasts that rocked Brussels’ Zaventem airport and left more than 30 people killed.

A photograph showing the 40-year-old flight crew member of Jet Airways sitting dazed and bloodied, with her bright yellow uniform ripped, went viral soon after the airport blasts and become an iconic image of the attacks.

Chaphekar’s husband, who flew from Mumbai to Paris and travelled by road to Brussels, is at the hospital with her.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways flew out the passengers who were stranded  in Brussels after the attacks. Some passengers returned to Delhi early Friday, while others left for Newark from Amsterdam.

Jet Airways cancels operations to Brussels

New Delhi : (IANS) Jetjet airways Airways on Tuesday cancelled all its flights to and from Brussels until Wednesday after two of its staff members were injured in the bomb blasts that rocked the city’s Zaventem airport on Tuesday morning.

Two of the airline’s flights from India had landed before and around the time of the attack, but all passengers and crew were safe.

“Jet Airways has cancelled flights operating to/from and via Brussels until tomorrow Wednesday 23 March. The airline has also offered a waiver on cancellation, rebooking and rerouting of tickets for travel to/from/via Brussels until March 26,” an airline spokesperson said.

According to the airline, following the deadly explosions, the Brussels airport has been closed until 6.00 a.m. local time on March 23.

The airline informed that two of its staff members sustained injuries in the explosion at Brussels airport.

“Both of them are receiving medical care at hospitals,” the spokesperson said.

The airline elaborated, that as per the latest information received from Brussels, its guests have been accommodated at three locations by Jet Airways staff in co-ordination with the local authorities.

“Arrangements for their food and comfort have been made till the situation normalises,” the spokesperson added.

“We are working very closely with the Indian Embassy and are in touch with the Indian Ambassador to plan the next steps for evacuation of our guests from Brussels once the airport becomes operational.”

Two Jet Airways flights, one from New Delhi and the other from Mumbai, had landed at Brussels around the time of the blast.

According to the data from aviation website Flightradar24, Jet Airways flight 9W 230 from New Delhi reached Brussels at 8.08 a.m. local time, just minutes after the bomb blast at the departure terminal at 8 a.m.

Flight 9W 228 from Mumbai had landed at Brussels at 7.11 a.m. local time.

Several people were said to have been injured at the airport, with media putting the number of dead at 13, while blasts were also reported from elsewhere in the city including a subway station.

Currently, Jet Airways operates daily non-stop flights to its European gateway at Brussels airport from its domestic hubs in Mumbai and New Delhi.

The attacks coincidentally came a day after the private Indian airline announced it will shift its European base out of Brussels to Amsterdam.

On Monday, the airline had announced that it will shift its European hub from Brussels to Amsterdam, and plans to launch daily non-stop flights from New Delhi and Mumbai to Amsterdam, starting from March 27.

Jet Airways to launch new daily flight to Muscat

AirplaneMumbai  (IANS) Airline major Jet Airways on Monday informed that it will increase operations between India and Oman by launching a daily flight between Delhi and Muscat with effect from March 21.

“With the launch of this flight, Jet Airways guests from Northern India, Saarc (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) and Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) regions will have the option of travelling to Oman via Delhi,” said Gaurang Shetty, senior vice-president-commercial, Jet Airways.

According to the company, with the launch of the new flight, it will operate a total of four daily flights between India and Muscat. This includes flights from Mumbai, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
