Tehran : Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday said Washington cannot dictate its policies on regional countries for their relations with Iran.

Rouhani made the remarks at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport before leaving for Turkey, Xinhua news agency reported.

He said the US has no longer any influence on relations between countries in the region, and it will no longer be able to dictate its policies to regional states, Press TV reported.

Rouhani left Tehran for Ankara for an official two-day visit at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Rouhani will co-chair the fifth Turkey-Iran High Level Cooperation Council meeting in Ankara.

He also hailed what he called Turkey’s “firm” stance on unilateral US sanctions against the Islamic republic.

Ties of Turkey, as friendly key regional player, are of high significance to Iran, he stressed.

No oil will go through Persian Gulf if US targets Iranian sales: Rouhani

Tehran : Accusing the US of trying to push India away from Iran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that Washington cannot stop Tehran from exporting oil and warned that no crude will be exported from the Persian Gulf if Iranian oil sales were blocked.

The US has re-imposed its unilateral sanctions on Iran, including an oil embargo, after withdrawing in May from the landmark 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and major world powers earlier in defiance of international objections.

Washington had initially vowed to reduce Iran’s oil sales to “zero”, but later backed down and granted waivers to almost all of Tehran’s major crude buyers.

“The US should know (this) that we sell and will sell our oil and it will not be able to block Iran’s oil exports. And it should also know that if it attempts to stop Iran’s oil (sales) someday, no oil will be exported from the Persian Gulf,” Rouhani said during a speech in Semnan province’s Shahroud city.

“We will expand our relationship with neighbours, the Muslim countries and the world,” Rouhani was quoted as saying by Press TV.

He added that the US was trying to push Europe, China and India away from Iran and “spread Iranophobia in the region”.

Rouhani said that “Washington always suffered defeat in its several hostile plots against Iran”.

He added that all countries “condemned Washington’s sanctions on Tehran, the US was defeated in the UN Security Council and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague” over the issue.

The Iranian leader also took an aim at Tel Aviv, saying that “the US and Israel cannot tolerate the existence of a powerful Tehran” and added that the his country would never bow to them.

US will eventually rejoin nuclear deal: Rouhani

US will eventually rejoin nuclear deal: Rouhani

By Muhammet Kursun,

Tehran: The U.S. will sooner or later rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference in New York, where he was attending the UN General Assembly, Rouhani described the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 accord as “a mistake”.

He said it would ease the way for dialogue if the U.S. administration “stops bullying, keeps its promises, abides by the laws and respects human rights”.

Rouhani underlined that he met with 16 world leaders in New York and all of them supported the nuclear agreement.

He said the U.S. has isolated itself by pulling out from the accord but would return to the deal because “nobody benefits from the current situation”.

In May, U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew his country from a landmark nuclear deal signed in 2015 between Iran and the P5+1 group of nations — the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany.

He later reinstated U.S. sanctions on Tehran, which had been lifted under the terms of the agreement in exchange for restrictions on Iran’s nuclear energy program.

The sanctions are expected to impact Iranian oil exports, which provide Tehran with the revenue needed to finance its national budget.

Rouhani blasts US-led sanctions as ‘economic terrorism’

United Nations : Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday blasted the US-led sanctions against his country as “economic terrorism”.

“World security is under threat by some states’ recklessness and disregard of international values and institutions,” Rouhani made the remarks at the ongoing General Debate of the 73rd UN General Assembly, Xinhua reported.

“Confronting multilateralism is not a sign of strength. Rather, it is a symptom of the weakness of the intellect. It betrays an inability in understanding a complex and interconnected world,” he said.

Rouhani lashed out at US President Donald Trump in his speech, saying he is seeking an “overthrow” of the Iranian leadership.

Speaking of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), known commonly as the Iran nuclear deal or Iran deal, Rouhani said that “we are pleased that the international community did not acquiesce to the US illegal and unilateral withdrawal from that agreement.”

President Trump called on the rest of the world to isolate Iran and said a US campaign of “economic pressure” would turn back “Iran’s aggression,” in his second address to the UN General Assembly.

At last year’s General Debate, Trump criticized the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, calling it “one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into.”

Iran deal is an agreement on the nuclear programme of Iran reached in Vienna on July 14, 2015 between Iran, the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council – China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United States – plus Germany).

In May, US President Trump announced Washington’s withdrawal from the landmark Iranian nuclear deal. Since then, the Trump administration has slapped a number of sanctions on Iran while vowing to apply more.

Trump willing to meet Iran’s Rouhani without preconditions

Trump willing to meet Iran’s Rouhani without preconditions

Donald Trump and Hassan RouhaniWashington : US President Donald Trump announced that he was willing to meet his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani without preconditions and “whenever they want”, a sharp departure from his threats against Tehran last week.

“I would certainly meet with Iran if they wanted to meet,” Trump said on Monday during a joint news conference at the White House alongside Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.

“I do believe that they will probably end up wanting to meet. I’m ready to meet whenever they want to.

“No preconditions… They want to meet, I’ll meet, whenever they want,” the President added.

Trump also appeared to hedge the possibility of a meeting on an ability to “work something out that’s meaningful”.

Hamid Aboutalebi, an adviser to President Rouhani, tweeted in response to Trump that “returning to the nuclear deal” and “respecting the Iranian nation’s rights” would pave way for talks, reports the BBC.

Such a meeting would be the first between US and Iranian leaders since the 1979 Iranian revolution.

Monday’s olive branch from Trump marks an abrupt shift in tone. The President has been a strident critic of Iran, threatening Tehran with “consequences” on July 22, CNN reported.

The President and his senior officials have ramped up the rhetoric against Tehran, promising to “crush” its economy with international sanctions and accusing it of fomenting terrorism and regional instability, while telling the country’s citizens that their leaders are corrupt.

Washington is preparing to re-impose sanctions on Tehran within days – despite objections from the UK, France, China, Russia and Germany, which also signed the 2015 Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Iran insists its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful, and its compliance with the deal has been verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which has said Iran is honouring its commitments.
