Hyderabad:  (Press Release) India International Halal Expo 2020, organized by ATOBA Business Networks Pvt Ltd, at Hyderabad, attracted 110 exhibitors, 6 Chamber of commerce, 10,000 visitors from across India and 48 overseas delegates.  Providing platforms for both B2C and B2B exhibitors, the three days event held on 18thto 20th January 2020, showcasedan array of Halal products and services from Food and beverage brands to Sharia compliant investments, from real estate to cosmetics.

The direct impact of Halal Expo2020 is that for the first time, a State Government in India has shown keen interest in developing the Halal Eco system. Telangana Government has declared its intension in developing the Halal parks in Telangana state.

For the first time in India, the concept of Halal products and services, were discussed at length, attracting huge crowd in the auditorium where delegates  patiently listened to various Indian and international speakers on various Halal concepts. The Halal products and services on display at the exhibitors’ stalls displaying varieties of Halal products and services attracted visitors in large numbers for all three days.

Such international-level exhibition helps strengthen the Indian economy. Halal products from countries like Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Canada drew the visitors’ attention. They included eco-friendly products, those enhancing beauty, herbal and jewelry, which bowled over women. The participants in the expo included several pharma, real estate, IT and dairy companies, educational institutions, besides banks, which extend interest-free loans.

Federation of Telangana Chamber of Commerce& Industry (FTCCI) offered all form of assistance to Atoba in creating awareness for Halal products as well as extending help in establishing Halal parks in the state of Telangana.

The inaugural session was attended by the galaxy of scholars, leaders, government representatives and entrepreneurs from across the world. Telangana Government extended the wholehearted support in organizing the India International Halal Expo. Mr.Talasani Srinivas Yadav (Hon’ble Minister of Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development), Mr. E. Narshimha Reddy-Vice (Chaiman, MD Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, Govt. of Telangana and addressed the gathering).

The highlight of the inaugural session was the signing of the MOU between Serunai Commerce & ATOBA Business Networks India. Serunai Commerce is a Malaysian firm having expertise in several Halal technology services, such as a catalog containing data concerning Halal retailers, suppliers, manufacturers, and buyers across the globe. Serunai has also developed the Verify Halal mobile application which enables consumers to verify the origin of items in grocery stores.Serunai will help ATOBA to build a digital Halal ecosystem.

The CEO of Atoba Mr. Muazzam Naik, while addressing the delegates, at the HITEX Hyderabad, unfurled the sole objective of Halal Expo, “to offer a connecting point for the World’s Halal industries and promote Halal economy across India”.

According to Mr. Naik, Atoba intends to create Halal Ecosystem in various Indian cities and provide the business opportunities to various industries like Food & Beverages, Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, Logistics Industries and IT services. “Our estimate is that the Halal eco system will help the brands from these sectors to achieve growth rate of over 200 %”, said Naik.

Kumara Jati, Director, Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), under the Ministry of trade of the republic of Indonesia, while expressing a great scope for Halal products in India, said, “We are very pleased with our participation at Halal Expo, 2020,Hyderabad in which we were able to penetrate India’s largest market and create awareness about our Halal products and services”.

Muhammed Ciftci, Vice Chairman of Northgate, Real estate developer in Saray Osmangazi, Turkey, said that “India has over 180 million Muslim population which makes it an ideal market Place for Halal products and services with demands worth trillions of dollars”.

At the counter of International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM), a large number of delegates showed keen interest in the various under graduate and post graduate courses offered by the university. Prof Hamzah Mohd Salleh, Dean International Institute of Halal Research &Training of IIUM while making a detailed presentation in the auditorium about various courses said that in addition to academic excellence, IIUM ensures that the students are trained to be responsible, imbued with good ethics, high moral values, and professionalism, and leadership skills”. One course offered by IIUM whichattracted maximum inquiry isMaster in Halal industry management (MAHIM).

An exhibitor stall which was always surrounded by visitors was, of Property investment Turkey (propertyinvestmentturkey.com). Fatih Poyraz, general manager of the company explained to the visitors that our mission is to provide our clients a rich sort of properties that are affordable, sustainable and profitable in various cities of Turkey such as Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Antalya, Trabzon and Sakarya. “We have come to Hyderabad to cement long lasting relationships based on honesty, reliability, and trust”.

A large delegation from, fromMalaysia also participated in the Halal Expo 2020. JAKIM is the agency responsible for the Islamic affairs including Halal certification in Malaysia.

ATOBA and Serunai Commerce official partner of JAKIM have signed an MOU, establish Halal Centre of Excellence (HALAL COE). The center will provide services including professional halal industry training, certified halal plant management and skills development, human capital development, and capacity building for different levels of management and stakeholders.

“India is an exciting place, particularly Hyderabad where we see a lot of companies are interested in getting their products halal-certified,”-Intan Suriya, Head of International Partnership & Global Events at Serunai Commerce.

“We have noticed many companies in India want to obtain the JAKIM logo as they want to be recognized worldwide,” said Intan, whose company is a strategic partner with JAKIM for its Verify Halal app, Global Halal Data Pool, and block chain-powered Halal Digital Chain.

JAKIM will assist in developing the Halal certification system in India by ascertaining the Halal status of the product at every stage and at every process involved by carrying out an official site inspection on the plants purposely to examine on how the Halal status of the raw material is maintained and monitored at all times. JAKIM representatives will also monitor/verify the Halal status of these raw materials and products with responsibility and integrity.

The unique achievement of the first Halal Expo, 2020 at Hyderabad, was its commercial success. In organizing the Halal Expo the fund was generated by commercial transaction without a single penny of Donation from government agencies or NGO’s.

A delegation from Salaam Gateway, world’s leading news and insights platform on the global Islamic economy, also participated. Salaam gateway agreed to provide its expertise in Islamic finance, Halal, and Islamic lifestyle, with an eye on key producer and consumer markets.

A key player in Halal eco system in Gulf, ‘Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre’ (DIEDC) also participated in Halal Expo. It has agreed to have a barter system with ATOBA to share each other expertise.  In 2017, DIEDC launched its refreshed Islamic economy strategy (2017-2021) that focuses on identifying new key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring the growth of three core Islamic economy sectors – Islamic finance, Halal products, and Islamic lifestyle encompassing culture, art, fashion and family tourism – in addition to measuring their contribution to the UAE’s national economy.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) was an official partner of the Halal Expo 2020. MATRADE is a Malaysian external trade government agency. Its key role is to assist Malaysian exporters to develop and expand their export markets.

Due to the efforts of ATOBA, Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) has agreed to sign a MOU with the state government of Telangana for the overall development of the Halal industry in Telangana state.It will assist in the development of Halal food parks and Halal standards,audit and certification, plus capacity building for Halal products and services.

“When we say Halal Centre of Excellence, we mean it will be a complete business center for the information, training, business networking, certification and government liaising,” Muazzam Naik, CEO and Director at ATOBA, as of now Indians are going to Malaysia for training, but, with the center coming into existence next month, they will be able to obtain training and assistance for halal certification in India itself. “We are creating awareness among students in educational institutes and telling them that they can opt halal as their career option,” said Muazzam. Initially, we will conduct some seminars and workshops in different cities following which we will plan how many students we are going to train,” he said, adding that they are partnering with different educational institutions and colleges for use of their premises.

ATOBA future plan includes participating as partner in various Halal Expos such as 17th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) at Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on 1-4 April 2020.It is an annual 4-day trade exhibition held in Kuala Lumpur. ATOBA has announced the second Halal expo 2021 to be held in Mumbai. The overwhelming success of Halal expo 2020 has led to the surge in request to accept the advance booking for Halal Expo 2021, Mumbai.
