Mumbai : Today Ajmal CSR Bihar Relief Operation has completed its third phase of distribution with 1500 Food+Clothe Kits among the flood victims in Bihar’s 9 districts- Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj, Araria, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, Motihari and Bettiah. The kits carried 10 kgs of live-saving food items along with a pair of clothes for male and female in each was organized by Ajmal Foundation, Hojai, Assam.
In the earlier two phases we have distributed 1000 emergency food kits among the flood victims in Bihar from 18 to 25 August.

I appreciate our volunteers and area heads who have dedicatedly carried out this relief mission and even sacrificed their Eid holidays in very tough conditions for the humanity in need.
Ajmal CSR’s partner organization Markazul Ma’arif is going to begin with a new and 4th phase of Bihar Relief Operation from 10 September, 2017. In this phase we will distribute additional 5000 Food+Clothe Kits, consisting of 9 essential food items, as in the previous ones, and clothes for both men and women.

The breakup of the 4th Phase is as under:
Purnia and Katihar – 1000 kits, (2) Kishanganj – 600 kits, (3) Araria – 1000 kits (4) Madhubani, Supaul and Saharsa – 1000 kits, (5) Bettiah and Matohari – 1000 kits and (6) Sitamarhi – 400 kits.
This phase with physical surveys of 5000 families, kits preparation and distribution will be completed in next 15 days In’sha’Allah.
Maul. Parvez Alam Qasmi, HoD: Dept. of Relief & Rehabilitation at Markazul Ma’arif, Hojai, Assam with a team of three more office bearers is reaching Bihar on Saturday, 9th Sept. He will begin distribution of the 4th phase in Araria on Sunday 10th Sept. then proceed to Purnia on Monday. The new manpower from Assam will stay and add on to the existing five teams under Ajmal CSR Bihar Relief Operation spearheaded from MMERC, Mumbai.

We are immensely thankful to all our individual donors, partner organizations in India and abroad who rushed to support the suffering human beings. Al-Imdaad Foundation, Issa Foundation, (UK) and AFMI (USA) have been partners in some of our Bihar relief operations.
The need is yet enormous. Ajmal CSR may begin with the rehabilitation programme next.

Purnea (Bihar) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced a Rs 500 crore relief package for Bihar after conducting an aerial survey of the flood-hit regions in the state.
“Announced a package of Rs 500 crore for Bihar,” the Prime Minister’s Office tweeted.
Modi assured “all assistance” to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh to the kin of the victims and Rs 50,000 for those injured during the floods.
“A central team would be sent to Bihar to access the losses due to the floods,” he said.
Modi along with Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi, conducted the survey of Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar and Araria districts of Seemanchal region — the worst hit.
The aerial survey took nearly 50 minutes as the leaders took stock of the situation, an official of the Bihar disaster management department said.
Following the survey, Modi met top central and state officials along with Nitish Kumar and Sushil Modi, at the conference hall of Chunapur airport in Purnea to review aid management.
Earlier, Modi was received by Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi at the Purnea airport.
The death toll due to floods in Bihar stands at 418 in 19 districts.

Patna : Nearly one crore people have been affected by the Bihar floods that have claimed 119 lives so far, an official said on Friday.
The Bihar disaster management department official said over 98 lakh people in 1,532 panchayats under 139 blocks in 16 districts have been affected by the floods.
It has washed away thousands of huts, damaged buildings, roads, bridges and standing crops worth crores.
According to the official, 408,903 people have been evacuated to safer places by the Army, NDRF, SDRF and other rescue teams in the last four days.
The state government has set up 1,238 relief camps in which 310,041 people were living in the flood-hit districts.
“With reports of major rivers in spate breaching banks, inundating new areas and displacing thousands since Thursday night, the numbers affected is likely to cross 1 crore on Friday,” the official said.
“So far 119 people have died in the floods,” the official said, but unconfirmed reports put death toll at 150.
According to him, the toll included the highest number of 23 death reported from Araria district, the worst hit; followed by 12 in Sitamarhi and 11 each in Kishanganj, East Champaran, West Champaran and Supaul.
In Madhubani seven deaths were reported, followed by Madhepura and Purnea districts where the toll was five each.
The toll in Darbhanga and Saharsa districts was four each, while that in Gopalganj and Khagaria was three each.
More than 60 lakh people were affected alone in Kishanganj, Araria, Purnea, Katihar, East and West Champaraan districts in the last three days.
The official said there was little chance of respite.
