Mumbai, (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Thursday was trading 204.58 points or 0.87 percent up during the afternoon session.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 59 points or 0.83 percent up at 7,167.45 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 23,536.47 points, was trading at 23,586.45 points (at 1.18 p.m.) in the afternoon session, up 204.58 points or 0.87 percent from the previous day’s close at 23,381.87 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 23,735.35 points and a low of 23,510.64 points in the trade so far.

Good buying was observed in capital goods, healthcare, IT and TECK sectors.
