Qatar strengthens status as key player in global travel industry

by | May 25, 2021

DOHA – Qatar is set to boost its status as a major player in the international travel industry by attending the three-day Middle East’s specialized exhibition for the meetings and incentives industry, Gulf Incentive Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (GIBTM) which is taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) in Abu Dhabi until Wednesday (March 26).

With 15 private sector co-participating partners, the Director of Exhibition Centre & MICE Division, Hamad Al Abdan at Qatar Tourism Authority, said “GIBTM is a highly important event for Qatar on several levels. It attracts a large and influential segment of the international travel trade, providing them with a first-hand experience of the Gulf destinations and the diverse attractions. It will also underline QTA’s commitment to attracting credible MICE events and provide a showcase for the newly developed state-of-the-art facilities at QNCC.”

He noted that MICE business – covering meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions – is widely recognized as one of the fastest developing and most lucrative sectors of the international travel industry and is one of the key targets for Qatar.

GIBTM ensures that Qatar becomes more widely known to the global meetings industry in the region.

Qatar extend a warm welcome to meeting professionals interested in inbound business to Qatar and look forward to welcoming a group of GIBTM Hosted Buyers on a post-event visit to Qatar where they will have the opportunity to experience the myriad of cultural attractions that the destination offers.

GIBTM provides an ideal forum bringing together MICE suppliers and buyers. A key feature of the event is its Hosted Buyer program. This involves inviting leading international and regional business travel buyers and is designed to ensure high quality appointments for exhibitors, as well as providing outstanding business-to-business, networking and professional education opportunities.

The Qatari Stand is led by QTA and includes representation by Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC), Qatar Airways (Qmice), Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI), Qatar Museums Authority (QMA), InterContinental Doha The City, W Doha Hotel & Residences, Crown Plaza Doha – The Business Park, Renaissance Doha City Center Hotel, Doha Marriot Hotel, InterContinental Doha, La Cigale Hotel Doha, The St Regis Doha, Qatar International Adventures, Gulf Adventures, and Regency Holidays.
