OIC to participate in conference on role of media in fight against terrorism, extremism

Organization of Islamic Cooperation, OICJeddah, (AB/IINA) : The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will participate in a conference on “The Role of Media in Combating Terrorism and Extremism – Cyberspace as a New Weapon of Terrorism”, which will be organized by the Arab Corporation for Broadcasting (ACB) in the Jordanian capital Amman on September 27-28.

The conference aims to tackle terrorism phenomenon from the media perspective and how to deal with it through media, as well as how to address the destructive information that spreads on the Internet with the appropriate legislation. It also aspires to form a team of international experts in the field of media to discuss ways and means of joint media awareness efforts against the menace of terrorism.

The ACB is an Arab professional body for broadcasting that has been established by a decision of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information. It operates under the umbrella of the Arab League as one of the professional organizations in media sector. It is an observer member of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information and is a member of the Executive Bureau of the Arab League.
