Najma A. Heptullah Must Give priority to Minority Welfare Schemes: MBMC

Aligarh: We welcome the decision of Prime Minister of India to appoint Dr. Najma A. Heptulla as Union Minority Welfare Minister and expect that she will not only follow the ideals of great freedom fighter and first education Minister of India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and will strengthen the communal harmony in country said Prof. Razaullah Khan while chairing a minority concentrated analysis meeting held by Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) at Media Centre Aligarh. He pointed out that the ministry of minority affairs has importance became it ensures justice and equal development for deprived sections of Indian society.

Secretary General of MBMC Jasim Mohammad said that the UPA government should had paid attention on the development of minorities particularly Muslims after release of Sachar Committee report but the policies of UPA government remained on paper. Jasim Mohammad pointed out that K. Rahman Khan Union Minority Affairs minister in last government had sidelined or removed honest officers and failed to take up any welfare work at all. He reminded that K. Rahman Khan had removed secretary of Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF) M. Wazir Ansari IPS/DG of Chhatisgarh when the Lok-sabha elections were going on in country simply because he refused to oblige certain NGOs dear to him. He said that Wazir Ansari was an honest and committed officer and the Modi government should use such persons on key posts to translate government policies of equal development of all sections of society.

Dr. Mohd. Shahid, Member of AMU Executive Council said that K. Rahman Khan had damaged electoral prospects of Congress also due to his working. He said that K. Rahman Khan failed in even releasing funds for holding annual Maulana Azad Lecture which was an insult to that great man.

AMU Court Member Prof. Humayun Murad said that newly appointed Minority Affairs Minister Dr. Najma A. Heptulla should pay attention to special schemes launched for 90 Muslims concentrated districts in country. He said that Union Minority Ministry must constitute a Committee to monitor the schemes launched by the government in these districts and representatives of Muslim NGOs should be included in that.

N. Jamal Ansari said that before the elections it was presumed that Narendra Modi will not have ministry of Minority Welfare and he will discontinue it but he did not do that which indicate that he is deeply concerned with secular image of country and international norms. He said that Narendra Modi should also take up minority welfare on priority as it is necessary for the development of country.

In the end of meeting MBMC passed a resolution unanimously welcoming the appointment of Dr. Najma A. Heptulla as Union Minority Affairs Minister. In another resolution MBMC has demanded that M. Wazir Ansari who was removed by K. Rahman Khan as secretary of Maulana Azad Educational Foundation (MAEF) should be re-appointed an any keep post.
