New Delhi, Aug 2, 2022: Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Jamia Hmadard in collaboration with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) organized a seminar on “Research Ecosystem in Higher Education Institutions and its Impact on Accreditation and Ranking” on 1st August 2022. The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session Prof. Furqan Qamar, Former Secretary General, Association of Indian University (AIU) appreciated the idea of the Seminar. He stated that research is an integral component of teaching and both the activities go hand in hand. He congratulated Jamia Hamdard for being the first Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Delhi going for the 4th cycle of NAAC Accreditation. He also suggested that the best way forward would be binary accreditation instead of grading and there should be two categories of HEI- accredited and non-accredited. Dr. Leena Gahane, Deputy Advisor, NAAC highlighted the importance of research in accreditation. Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard in his Presidential Address also highlighted the role of research in accreditation and ranking. He informed the audience that in the last one year three specialized research centers have been established in Jamia Hamdard. He also emphasized the importance of quality of Ph.D. thesis. Prof. S. Raisuddin, Director, IQAC and Director, Research and Development Cell welcomed the delegates from various institutions. He highlighted the role of high quality publications in the high ranking of Jamia Hamdard in Pharmacy. In this Seminar more than 100 delegates participated from Jamia Hamdard and other institutions from Delhi and outside of Delhi. It was one of its kind of initiatives of Jamia Hamdard towards achieving a higher grade in accreditation. Theme lectures were delivered by researchers and academicians from leading institutions. The programme was conducted by Prof. M. Shahar Yar, Deputy Director, IQAC and vote of thanks was proposed by him.
