UP: Residents threaten mass exodus after minority family buys house

Hindus of Vakeelo Wali Gali, a residential area in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly’s Punjab Pura area have come out in protest against a Muslim family who recently purchased a house in their locality.

According to the protestors, the Muslim family was not welcomed and demanded an immediate annulment of the property’s registration. They even threatened a mass exodus of their demand was not met.

Former secretary of the bar association of Bareilly Arvind Srivastava said that the family hailed from Assam and was involved in the illegal possession of a local mosque.

Citing Prime Minister Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s past statements Srivastava told a local news channel that they will ‘neither allow Assamese nor Bangladeshis’ to step into their locality.

“Our Prime Minister and chief minister have said that Bangladeshis and Assamese shall not step forward. Who will be responsible for the ‘love jihad’ that this may lead to?” Srivastava asked.

AIIMS Delhi constitutes two committees to assess safety measures at campus

New Delhi: The AIIMS Delhi administration on Wednesday appealed to striking resident doctors to resume duties in the interest of patient care, saying a collaborative internal security audit will be conducted to assess safety and security measures within the campus.

Two committees have also been constituted by the administration to look into safety issues at the institute and other concerns of the doctors.

Resident doctors of AIIMS have been on strike demanding a central legislation for the protection of healthcare workers following the alleged rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor at a state-run medical college and hospital in Kolkata.

Besides the security audit, the AIIMS administration has also decided to install Al-enabled CCTV cameras at key entry and exit points of the Mother and Child Block on a pilot basis.

Such cameras shall be able to recognise all visitors with facial recognition technology and shall help security staff to identify persons entering and exiting frequently thereby helping them in access control of unauthorised personnel.

July salary not paid to staff due to SC order, says Byju’s Raveendran

July salary not paid to staff due to SC order, says Byju’s Raveendran

New Delhi: Edtech firm Think and Learn, which owns Byju’s brand, has not paid the July salary to employees as the company was unable to access its accounts due to a temporary stay granted by the Supreme Court on the NCLAT’s decision, a top official said on Tuesday.

On August 2, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) approved the Rs 158.9 crore dues settlement with BCCI and set aside insolvency proceedings against Byju’s. However, the Supreme Court on August 14 stayed the verdict of the insolvency appellate tribunal setting aside the insolvency proceedings against the ed-tech major based on a plea of US-based creditor Glas Trust Company LLC.

Think and Learn founder and CEO Byju Raveendran in an email to employees said that every legal roadblock has lengthened the company’s long trek to recovery but the company is on the verge of reversing the negative business cycle that began two years ago.

“I want to address the matter of utmost concern to you – and to me as well. Your salary for July 2024 has not been credited yet. Our company recently faced a serious challenge that pushed us into insolvency due to a dispute with the BCCI. We settled the case and were on the brink of regaining control of our finances after the NCLAT ruled in our favour.

“The apex court has issued a temporary stay on the NCLAT’s decision, which means the control of the company’s accounts has not yet been restored to us,” Raveendran said.

He said some foreign lenders have been litigating against the company and appealed the NCLAT ruling before the apex court.

Suchi Semicon to invest $100 million in chip plant in Gujarat, create 1,200 jobs

New Delhi: In a fillip to the government’s chip manufacturing vision, semiconductor company Suchi Semicon on Wednesday said it is set to inaugurate an assembly and testing (OSAT) plant in Gujarat by November this year with an investment of $100 million.

Spanning an initial area of 30,000 square feet, the plant will have the capacity to produce up to 3 million chips per day, generating up to 1,200 jobs, the company said in a statement.

The facility will focus on advanced semiconductor assembly and testing, in line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Suchi Semicon said it has also collaborated with Gujarat Technological University and SVNIT to develop a skilled workforce for the semiconductor industry.

“Our goal is to address the growing global demand for semiconductors while also reducing supply chain inefficiencies. By creating up to 1,200 local jobs and leveraging cutting-edge technology, we aim to offer competitive pricing and high-quality services on the global stage,” said Ashok Mehta, Founder of Suchi Semicon.

This approach will reduce supply chain lead times and logistical costs, benefiting companies with design operations in India.
