Mumbai: Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) organised its national convention in Mumbai celebrating its 10th year of formation, with more than 250 delegates in attendance from India as well as abroad.

The Convention was organized at Alma Latifi Hall, Saboo Siddik Engineering College, Byculla, Mumbai. Razak Shaikh, Head Employment Cell of AMP took everybody through the Journey of AMP in the last five years. He spoke of how AMP has come a long way from its first Job Fair organised in P. T. Mane Garden at Nagpada, Mumbai to organising career events with Police Departments of Thane & Aurangabad cities. He also discussed the role and success of the Skill Development Lectures (SDL Project).

Aamir Edresy, President AMP, said, “AMP began through Social and Digital media and today has reached not just the metros but even the smaller towns thanks to the power of social media”. He emphasised that AMP’s model is based on partnership and collaborations with like-minded organisations and the corporate community.

Manappat Group’s CMD, Ameer Ahamed, specially flew from the Middle East to address the young audience. Advising the young leaders, he said, “We must be open to criticism, especially self-criticism, which is most important for individual growth. A community should not get bogged down by who is in the Government but should try and focus to avail of the various schemes introduced for its benefit and upliftment. My Mission 2040 is to work for the upliftment and progress of the unprivileged masses in UP, Bihar, Assam & West Bengal via Misal Foundation.

Renowned Technology expert, Thinker and Policy Maker, Mr.Sam Pitroda addressed the participants via video call from Chicago. In the evening a talk on Inclusive India – Prosperous India was conducted by Sayeed Khan at the MusafirKhana that was attended by many renowned dignitaries including Dr. Zahir Kazi, President, Anjuman Islam, Mumbai and Maulana Mahmood Madni ex-Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Gen. Sec. of Jamiat-e-Ulema Hind.

Maulana Madni addressed the young gathering of Professionals and said that they were the torch bearers of Change. He said that the time has come for professionals to come forward, hold the mantle and take lead with others from the Community providing them full fledged support. He was pleased to see that AMP was heralding the change which was needed in the Community in terms of Education and Economic Empowerment. He wished all success to AMP and mentioned that as long as there was dedication and sincerity within the Organisation it will continue to prosper and flourish and pledged his whole-hearted support to AMP.

The program was organized over a period of 2 days, on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of December 2017 where the Role of Professionals in Nation Building, Economic Development and Community Collaborations were brainstormed and discussed at length.
