New Delhi, September 15,2022: Jamia Hamdard celebrates its Founder’s Day on 14th September each year to mark the birth anniversary of its founder Late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb. On this auspicious day, the university organized a Hakeem Abdul Hameed Memorial Lecture on “Circle of affinity, exchanges and opportunities- India’s near and extended neighbourhood” which was delivered by Keynote Speaker, Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, IFS (Retd.), Distinguished Career Diplomat, Former Ambassador to Japan, Sweden and Qatar.
The programme commenced with the welcome of the Chief Guest Mr. Hammad Ahmed, Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard; Keynote Speaker Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, IFS (Retd.) and the other dignitaries. The program then proceeded with the inaugural address which was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Reshma Nareeen, DSW. The DSW shed some light on the life and legacy of Late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb. After the inaugural address, a visual journey on the life and legacy of Late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb was showcased by the Centre for Mass Communication and Media Studies, Jamia Hamdard. This was followed by the University Tarana. After that, Deputy DSW Dr. Zeenat Iqbal highlights the contribution of Late Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb. After the introduction of the chief guest and felicitation, the program proceeded with the memorial lecture “Circle of affinity, exchanges and opportunities- India’s near and extended neighbourhood” which was delivered by the Keynote Speaker. Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa highlighted the neighbourhood of India and issues around it like mutual relationships, external security matters, migration issues, etc. Ms. Wadhwa also briefed the recent policy initiatives taken by the Indian government to foster relationships in its immediate and extended neighbourhood and explained how India was helping its neighbour countries in times of distress. She also recognized the life and legacy of Late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed saheb and how the life and legacy of Late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb is relevant even in today’s world. The presidential speech delivered by Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard in which he focused on the inspiration and contribution of Late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb.
On this auspicious occasion of the Founder’s Day, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard launched the Research Management System (RMS) in the presence of Honourable Chancellor, Mr. Hammad Ahmed and Mr. Sajid Ahmed, Secretary, Hamdard National Foundation (India) HECA for online management of all the research activities of faculty and students. There are more than 700 Ph.D. Research Scholars enrolled in Jamia Hamdard in various departments. Director R&D Cell, Prof (Dr.) S. Raisuddin demonstrated the functioning of the RMS.
Janab Hammad Ahmed, Hon’ble Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard has inaugurated the Instructional Media Studio (IMS) of the Centre for Media and Mass Communication Studies (CMMS). The purpose of the IMS is to provide audio-visual practical training for the students of the CMMS. It will produce high-quality educational video lectures, and documentaries on arts, crafts, culture and history. He also inaugurated Classic Café at Scholar House, Jamia Hamdard and Business & Employment Bureau (BEB)- Sewing Skill Centre in association with Jamia Hamdard and supported by Singer India Ltd.
On this occasion, two days inter-school Carrom Tournament was organized by Chess & Carrom Club, Jamia Hamdard in which 75 students participated.
The Vice Chancellor also distributed Certificates and trophies to the winners of sports activities organized by Jamia Hamdard.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion are Mr. Sajid Ahmed, Secretary, Hamdard National Foundation (India) HECA, Prof. (Dr.) S. Raisuddin, Director, IQAC, Mr. Shaukat H. Mufti, Dy. Registrar, Deans, Head of Departments, faculties, officers, and students of Jamia Hamdard.
The programme ended with ‘national song’ and the vote of thanks was given by Mr. Syed Saud Akhtar, Registrar, Jamia Hamdard.
