Djibouti : The Djiboutian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation hosted the annual meeting of the Ethiopia-Djibouti Joint Ministerial Committee, co-chaired by Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and Ethiopian Finance Minister Sufian Ahmed.
The meeting discussed enhancing relations between the two countries, joint cooperation in economic and trade fields, and the transfer of the activities of the independent international port of Djibouti to the new Doraleh Multipurpose Port (DMP), which accommodates 220,000 containers (8.2 million tons) annually.
The two sides agreed to set up a joint committee to manage the observation posts along the borders of the two countries, where the railway line passes through the capital cities of the two Horn of Africa nations, Djibouti News Agency reported.
It is noteworthy that the Joint Ministerial Committee meeting comes within the context of ongoing consultations to boost the volume of trade exchange and economic integration between Djibouti and Addis Ababa.
