Azerbaijan makes presentation of its bid to host Expo 2025 at OIC headquartersJeddah : The Embassy of Azerbaijan to Saudi Arabia and the Cabinet of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan jointly organized a presentation ceremony about Azerbaijan’s nomination to host the World EXPO 2025 in its capital Baku to the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the headquarters of the OIC in Jeddah on Thursday.

The event was attended by heads and representatives of the diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia and high ranking officials of the OIC general secretariat.

Assistant to the First Vice President of Azerbaijan and head of the Baku Expo 2025 Task Force Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov, gave an informative briefing of Azerbaijan’s bid with the visual presentation of the diversity, development, and potential of Azerbaijan under the theme of ‘Developing human capital, building a better future.’

“We are here to seek your support for an important international project we signed in,” said Ambassador Amirbayov to the representatives of the OIC member states. The capital city of Baku is one of the candidates for hosting in 2025 a World Expo usually held every five years under the aegis of the the Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions (BIE, International Bureau of Exhibitions).

“Our desire to host the World Expo in 2025, fits very well into Azerbaijan’s long-term vision and national development strategy. Hosting a World EXPO would create an unprecedented opportunity for Azerbaijan to realize some of its long-term strategic goals including the development of the regions, diversification of economy, development of human capital through investments in education, health and job sectors and building a greater Baku which will serve the well-being of its population, said the ambassador.

It is worth mentioning that Azerbaijan is the only member state of the OIC to submit its bid for EXPO-2025.

Baku hosts 9th OIC-CERT conference on cybersecurityBaku : The Ninth Annual International Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation-Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) started in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Tuesday.

The conference is organized the Azerbaijan’s Special State Protection Service, in collaboration with local partners Delta Telecom LTD and Azinfosec, and under the auspices of foreign partners May Cyber Technology, THALES and Videntifier companies. The event’s academic partner is ADA University in Baku.

Representatives from 21 OIC member countries and 11 non-member countries are attending the conference, AZERTAC News reported.

Addressing the conference, Mursal Valiyev, deputy head of Azerbaijan`s Special State Protection Service and head of Special Communication and Information Security State Agency, stressed the importance of combined efforts and exchange of experience in achieving greater success in combating global and regional cyber threats. He noted that as a member of the OIC-CERT Board, Azerbaijan CERT properly fulfills its responsibilities in the field of cybersecurity.

OIC-CERT Chairman Eng. Badar Ali Said Al Salehi and Director of the OIC Department of Information Technology Wajdi Alquliti were among those who addressed the conference.

The four-day conference is a continuous initiative by the OIC-CERT to enhance cybersecurity and raise awareness through international cooperation among the members and other information security organizations. This event also offers possible partnerships and collaboration in cybersecurity in order to maintain resilience in the cyberspace. It also provides an information sharing platform on cybersecurity issues, enhancement of members’ effectiveness and efficiency through the improvement of the technical and administrative capabilities in incident handling, and a channel to discuss strategic directions and future challenges.

The conference will also feature workshops on National Frameworks for Cybersecurity Education and Utilizing Endpoint Analysis Data on Big Data Platforms to Discover Threats Against Large-Scale Enterprises.

Call to Iranian investors to look for emerging markets

Iranian MarketBaku : Iran’s ambassador to Azerbaijan called on the Iranian investors here to look for new markets, particularly in the neighboring states.

The CASPINDEXPO 2017 which is underway in Baku, Azerbaijan, will be a good opportunity for the Iranian businesspersons to find new markets for their products, Javad Jahangirzadeh told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

About Tehran-Baku ties, the envoy noted that Iran will play more active role in the auto market in the northern neighboring country of Azerbaijan in the near future.

The three-day international industrial exhibition, CASPINDEXPO – 2017, kicked off in Baku Expo Center on Wednesday.

Companies from 15 foreign countries are taken part in the industrial event. Among a total 52 participating companies, 20 are from Iran and the remaining from other states.
