New Delhi, January 26, 2024: JAMIA HAMDARD celebrated the 75th Republic Day on 26th January, 2024 at Hamdard Convention Centre, Jamia Hamdard with full fervour and zeal. On this occasion Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard unfurled the National Flag at 10:05 am on the lawn opposite to Hamdard Convention Centre followed by singing of the national anthem in the presence of Dr. M. A. Sikandar, Registrar, Mr. S. S. Akhtar, Controller of Examinations, Mrs. Heena Parveen, various Deans of Schools, Head of Departments, Chief Proctor, DSW, Director IQAC, Deputy Registrar, Executive Engineer, Senior officers, NCC cadets, volunteers of NSS, faculty, staff members and students of Jamia Hamdard.
The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam and the First Lady of the University Mrs. Heena Parveen received the Guard of Honour by the NCC cadets (boys and girls) of Jamia Hamdard.
Jamia Hamdard Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan (UBA) team organised various activities on the occasion of Republic Day in Sudhar Camp, Kalkaji in collaboration with Prajna Foundation where the underprivileged children from the Sudhar Camp and nearby areas participated in the activities. The UBA, Jamia Hamdard team will also visit the Sudhar Camp to distribute the certificates that they received from the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor on the occasion of Republic Day Celebrations.
Patriotic songs were presented by the students of the Music/Cultural Team. The skit presented on Republic Day is skilfully crafted and directed by students from Epoch and UBA team eloquently captures the ideology of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The production delivers a profound message on the importance of social democracy. We must address and combat the societal issues of injustice and casteism.
The Vice Chancellor felicitated the students, NCC Cadets and Security Personnels.
In his speech, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of Republic Day. He further emphasised on the importance and beauty of the Constitution of India.
For the University, he highlighted the plan of actions for infrastructural developments and he congratulated all stakeholders of Jamia Hamdard for achieving “A+” Grade by NAAC in its Fourth Cycle of Accreditation. He further said that solar panels have been installed in Jamia Hamdard campus and we are generating a lot of electricity out of it. The Computer Centre got renovated with the generous funding of the HNF/BEB. 300 new computers were purchased for the Computer Centre and for other offices with the funding of the HNF/BEB. The Computer Centre has been renamed as “Hakeem Abdul Hameed Information Centre” which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi. He also appreciated the Registrar, DSW and team for the well conduct of all the events.
On the occasion of Republic Day celebration, sweets were distributed to all the Jamia Hamdard fraternity.
